Automotive Agora: Malibu Maxx SS, Mk3 Supra, and another unexpected manual

(Automotive Agora is not used for advertising purposes, and is solely for entertainment purposes)

Welcome to the second main series of Southern New England Carspotting, Automotive Agora, which is a series where I show the most interesting vehicles I find for sale online. The Agora was a marketplace in ancient Greek history, so I thought it would be the perfect name for this series. I will show an image of each vehicle, but also give credit by providing a link to the listing. Now that I've explained the series, let's check out some cool cars!

1. 2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx SS

The Malibu Maxx by itself is an interesting liftback variety of a GM vehicle during one of the company's toughest times, but the Malibu Maxx SS is a whole new level of odd, since it's GM's performance trim, but on a liftback variant of a pretty typical midsize car. While this specific Malibu Maxx has an automatic Transmission, it makes up for that with only 100,000 miles. The seller also claims that a mere 5,000 Malibu Maxx's were made in it's model year, and that out of those, "Only 1200 [were] made in black". It's always really fascinating to find rare trims of specific cars, such as this one. In fact, I didn't even know there was a SS trim of the Malibu Maxx until I spotted one myself in May. I assumed that the vehicle was quite rare, and I was correct, since it was only available for two years, and as seen on the listing, the 2007 model is very uncommon to come across.

2. 1990 Honda Accord

Remember that manual Accord I found on the last post? Well this accord is also a manual! There isn't much to say about this one outside of the fact that it's in great condition inside and out despite it's fairly high mileage. The only real downside to the vehicle in my opinion is the automatic seatbelts. I've just never really been a fan of them.

3. 1986 Toyota Supra

Everybody likes Supra's, but it's rare to find a cheap example of one. While this one has high mileage and some cosmetic imperfections in the interior, It's still in pretty great condition, especially when considering that it's only 4,000 dollars. The Mk3 Supra tends to be overshadowed by it's successor, but It's probably my favorite Supra, and I'd love to own one in my lifetime

4. 1993 BMW 5 Series Wagon

Lastly, we have a fairly old 5 Series wagon, which I'm frankly unsure if I've seen before, although I'll admit I'm not the biggest BMW fan. However, that doesn't mean that I'm not a fan of this wagon. In fact, this has to be one of my favorite BMW's I've seen. It has a whopping 272,000 miles on it, and it also needs a fair amount of work, but it's also a 5 Series Wagon, which is likely a rare sight nowadays.

That's it for this post. I'll likely shorten this series, and make it one listing per post, because I feel like that would be much easier to do. I'll see you all soon for another post!

Recent Spottings: A Trip to the Honda Dealership

Honda is my favorite car brand that's still around. I feel like throughout their career they've been able to perfect the trifecta of looks, performance, and most importantly, reliability. The amount of amazing cars they've made is mind boggling, and they've even made some of  my all time favorite vehicles. So I thought it would be fitting if my first real post on here would mostly be related to them.
However, before we get to the main portion of this blog, we have to address this 1994-1997 Accord Wagon. This was the last generation of the Accord Wagon that was sold in the states, and it definitely has a pretty distinct look. Although I prefer the wagon variant of the previous generation, this is still one of my favorite vehicles offered by Honda. I was actually in the middle of eating a meal at McDonald's when I spotted this and I ran up to the window to take a quick picture.

After a couple of hours of driving around, I decided to head to Cardinal Honda, an Eastern Connecticut Honda Dealership, to look at what they had in store. After looking around at a couple of 2022 Civics, and a lot of automatic transmissions, I discovered this.
This may just look like a typical Mazda5, but this 2010 model had something very interesting on the inside.
That's right, this Mazda5 has a manual transmission! I had no idea that this car ever even had a manual option, so this came as a bit of a shock. Even though there's still quite a few Mazda5's on the road, a manual one is likely much more rare than it's automatic counterpart.

I then went into the showroom, and while they had a Civic Sport, as well as a few SUVs on display, the most interesting vehicle was a bit out of the way
I was absolutely stunned to come across a 1993 Honda Acty, I got very excited, and was even more excited to be able to see one up close. The Acty was a Kei Van (Kei meaning a small class of Japanese automobiles) sold in Japan. This specific one was imported to America anywhere from 2018 to now, due to the 25 year import law. This one was pristine, and the dealership even gave it a name: "Five Star Stanley"
I don't think this interior could be any more perfect.
Lastly, I leave you with a boring car, a 2004 Accord. Just Kidding! This one also has a manual! Not only that, but it's also insanely clean, despite it's fairly large mileage. Even it's hubcaps are immaculate. It always makes me smile when people keep their cars in good condition like this, and also when they aren't put to waste.

That's all for the first issue of Southern New England Carspotting! I'll see you all soon!

"Isn't that supposed to be in the junkyard?": An introduction to Southern New England Carspotting

Welcome to my newest blog-related endeavor, Eastern Connecticut Carspotting. This is something I've wanted to write for months, and now my wish is coming true. While I am proud of my work on Retail on the Thames, I'd rather talk about the cars I find in person, and online. I'm going to try to post at least once to twice a week, although that is subject to change. I will mainly be running two series on here. Recent Spottings, which will highlight the interesting Cars I find in while out and about, and Automotive Agora, which will highlight cars I find for sale online. I'll also post car shows I go to, as well as anything else I find interesting

Speaking of interesting, what cars interest me? I'm primarily interested in cars from the 80's and 90's, but any car that's unique or rare is also very interesting to me. For example, even if the Hyundai Elantra Touring is from the early 2010's, I still find it interesting because it's uncommon. My car enthusiasm has been a lifetime interest, but in the past couple of years it has greatly increased, and I can't wait to showcase what I find!

I thought I'd end off with my dream car, The Subaru SVX
